‘M’ is for May: Mother’s Day and Memorial Day

And for HMUH: Mental Health & Wellness

Posted

May is an important month at Helping Makes U Happy.  It’s the month we honor our moms, and those who hold a mom role in our lives. I’m fortunate to have a life filled with love—sadly, not everyone is.

To honor all moms, I’ll be making a donation to Brighter Tomorrows in Shirley, for victims of domestic violence.  This year, Helping Makes U Happy is changing up our $1000 scholarship for graduating seniors, switching from a community service-based award to a “Mental Health & Wellness Empathy Scholarship.”

We are seeking a student who understands the importance of checking in, speaking up, and stepping outside their comfort zone to help a friend or peer feel safe and supported. This is something I really wanted to do and I hope graduating seniors will give it some thought and apply.

Mental health and wellness is so important! For more information on applying, see guidance or email us at helpingmakesuhappy@gmail.com.

Time is short, so do it now!

We are also doing a raffle for Memorial Day; monies raised will be used to purchase items from a wish list at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook. Tickets for the basket pictured containing a $50 BJ’s gift card, lottery tickets, flag shirts, and Memorial Day decor and paper goods are $2 each or three for $5.

You can Venmo @HMUHAPPY or Paypal.me/HMUHAPPY or contact 631-848-9008. As always, we will be hosting our complimentary Memorial Day Breakfast for Veterans & Military personnel and their families at VFW Post 414, Center Moriches, before the 9 a.m. parade on May 25.

Please contact us to donate and/or volunteer, or if you’d like to attend.

Be happy and safe, all!
