On Friday, May 10, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The View in Oakdale, Save the Great South Bay will be hosting their annual Oyster Shindig with tickets at $50 per person, on sale through Friday, May 3.

“It’s time for some fun at our next community social!” said a representative for Save the Great South Bay.

The Oyster Shindig, the perfect preview of Memorial Day weekend ushering in summertime on the shore, will feature fresh oysters from Long Island oyster farmers, cold beer, and chilled wine.

“Blue Point oysters are so good, New York decreed no oysters outside the Great South Bay could use the name.  Even Queen Victoria agreed, insisting that only Blue Points be served at Buckingham Palace,” said SGSB.

Long Island oyster growers have enjoyed a booming business with their hard work as establishments rush to shell their prized shellfish.

The vendors include:

  • Fresh oysters from Great South Bay courtesy of Captree Clam
  • Lessing’s passed hors d’oeuvres
  • Blue Point Brewing beer
  • Chilled sparkling wine from Bedell Cellars & La Marca
  • Live shucking with Omar of Zegel Clams
  • Local Oyster farmers - Little A’s, Thatch Island, Red Tiger & Maris Stella
