Organist Clara Gerdes will be playing for the Suffolk AGO Scholarship Awards Recital.
She will perform works by Walton, Letaize, Franck, Liszt and more, in honor of the winners of the 2022 SAGO awards.
Recipient of awards in national competitions, including the first annual Pogorzelski-Yankee scholarship from the American Guild of Organists and the 2021 Julia Sherman Award for Excellence in Organ Playing from Yale, Gerdes is a 2021 graduate of the Yale Institute of Sacred Music where she studied with Martin Jean.
She also holds a degree from the Curtis Institute of Music where she studied with Alan Morrison, receiving diplomas in early music and improvisation.
Gerdes is known as “an expressive performer with an ability to fully explore the colors of the organs she plays,” according to one reviewer.
When not performing, Gerdes serves as music director at Most Holy Redeemer and Nativity Parish in New York City.
