For the month of February, the Bayport Junior Civic will be collecting pet toys, pet food, pet supplies (bedding, leash/collars, bowls, bath supplies etc) at the Bayport Blue Point Library.
The junior civic students select a cause to focus on each month. Previously they held a food drive in November and a community clean-up for the environment in April.
“February has become dedicated to helping pets which the students found out is National Love Your Pet Day on Feb. 20,” said Civic youth coordinator Denise McNeil.
The students designed signs to decorate a large box placed in the front entrance of the library.
At the conclusion of the donation cycle, the students will then discuss which local shelter they would like to distribute the collected items.
“This has become another successful month for the Bayport Junior Civic Society to give back to their community,” said McNeil.
