Meeting minutes from Patchogue Village

1. Trustee Sal Felice announced the continuation of paving projects with the inclusion of Pinehurst Drive and taking care of potholes.

“That little street was paved for the first time in 100 years,” he said jokingly. “We finally got it done. Everything else is going well and looking really great.”

2. The village’s new website will be launching by the end of the month. According to trustee Susan Brinkman, village employees have been working hard to enter data and calendar information as well as training to smoothly run the site. A date will be announced for the official launch.

3. Trustee Patrick McHeffey announced an uptick in residential building permits as well as a permit issued to the Tiffany Apartment Building on Terry Street for scaffolding to make repairs.

4. The Patchogue Arts Council currently has a call to artwork for their Mini MoCA series in the sculpture garden at ArtSpace.

5. A handicapped ramp and railing was installed for $12,000, paid in part by the village and in part by the CDA at Village Hall.

6. The fifth annual Patchogue River Clean Up will take place on Sept. 25 with a Sept. 26 rain date at the Watch Hill Ferry Terminal on West Avenue. Cleanup supplies and directions will be provided. The event will start at 9 a.m. and go until about 11 a.m.

7. In accordance with the Marijuana Regulation & Taxation Act (MRTA), adult (21 years or older) marijuana use or possession is now legal in New York State. Local municipalities will have until the end of the year to decide whether or not to opt in or out of the legal sale of marijuana within their business districts.

The Village of Patchogue will be hosting their public hearing on Sept. 27; the public hearing will be open for 30 days.
