Suffolk County Police today arrested a Medford man for stabbing his girlfriend to death.
Wayne Chambers, 49, of 3009 Falcon Ave., was arrested in Newburgh, New York, by Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives, members of the City of Newburgh Police Department, the New York State Police and United States Marshals Service.
Chambers was charged with Murder 2nd Degree and will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct for arraignment on July 31 at First District Court in Central Islip.
A resident of Woodland Avenue heard a woman calling for help. The resident found the woman, who was stabbed, on Woodland Avenue and called 911 at approximately 8 p.m on July 22. A vehicle fled the scene.
The victim, Sandra McIntosh, 46, of Medford, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
