A Mastic man has died after he was struck by a car in the hamlet on Thursday, March 25, police reports said.
At approximately 8:05 p.m., Jose Manual Diaz Orellana, 31, was walking across Titmus Drive, approximately 400 feet south of Boonar Street, when he was struck by a northbound 2009 Mazda 6 operated by a Manorville man, reports said.
Diaz was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. Police confirmed his death on Tuesday, March 30. The 24-year-old Manorville driver was not injured and his vehicle was impounded for a safety check, reports said.
