Local VFW Post 2913 past commander Dave Rogers invited national commander in chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hal Roesch, based out of his Virginia Post 3219, on to his “Cooking with a Veteran” YouTube show.
Rogers mixed Roesch’s love for Mexican food with Southern comfort and together they whipped up some Southern chicken tacos. The tacos featured buttermilk-soaked fried chicken strips with fresh slaw, mango salsa and jalapenos and peppers.
Rogers and Roesch also presented an award to an Air Force JROTC in special recognition of exceptional leadership ability as well as awards to some of the local members, including the post’s Woman of the Year Donna Zephrine. During his visit, Roesch also visited several local spots supporting veterans including Pal-O-Mine Equestrian.
