Kreamer Street principal seeks kidney for wife

Posted

Kreamer Street principal Sean Clark’s wife, Laura Ciapi Clark, is in critical need of a kidney transplant. However, according to the recently created GoFundMe, which has garnered over $3,000 of the $25,000 goal, a live donor is needed with a B or O blood type. The wait for a deceased donor is not a viable option, according to the surgeon.

The Kreamer PTA, along with the teachers, staff, community members, friends and family, pitched in by helping to raise funds for the Clark family and the donor’s family when the time comes. The goal is to cover the expenses for both families.

Earlier this week, according to Clark, they went for another evaluation with a transplant team at a different hospital.

“Like the other team, they were clear that due to her other comorbidities and the poor prognosis, if she has to be treated with dialysis, that time was of the essence and she is unlikely to survive the wait time for a deceased donor,” the GoFundMe details. “We left feeling encouraged. Not so much because what they told us about the road ahead was very different, it was just very personable and they offered to basically hold our hands through all the testing and doctor visits ahead.”

For anyone interested in being a donor but is not a good match, there is a possibility of paired exchange. It is basically a swap with another donor who wants to donate, but is also not a comparable match for the person they want to donate to.
