The Bay Area Friends of Fine Arts and Women Sharing Art gathered on Saturday, November 3 to honor long time BAFFA president Carole Sheppard, who passed earlier this year, with a new bench installation at the front of the Gillette House Gallery door.
Donna Smosky spoke about Sheppard’s kindness and outgoing personality that helped cultivate volunteers for the organization.
Sue Miller, president of Women Sharing Art, thanked Sheppard for her role in founding her organization as a champion of the arts and women artists.
The bench, constructed of wooden slats left in their natural hue, was welcomed by BAFFA as a resting place for attendees of the gallery and a symbolic seat for Carole to welcome new supporters of the arts.
Carole’s love for the arts was evident through her active involvement with the Bay In addition to BAFFA, Carole also contributed her time to the Sayville Village Improvement Society, volunteered at the local food pantry, and was a dedicated member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, where she served for a time on the vestry.
