Happy 102nd birthday, Aunt Jean!

Longtime Patchogue resident Jean Aragona-Korosh celebrated her 102nd birthday at Village Walk Senior Living in Patchogue.

“You may have seen Jean in the Advance the last few years, as we have been fortunate enough to celebrate her 99th, 100th and 101st birthdays with her as she was dressed head-to-toe in purple,” said director of life enrichment and move-in coordinator, Alyson Lauriguet. “This year, as we celebrate Jean’s 102nd birthday, we decided to change things up a bit and went all pink!”

Along with COVID-19 precautions, Jean celebrated her birthday this year with a small gathering of family members, Patchogue mayor Paul Pontieri, and Village Walk employees.

Jean was born and raised in Patchogue on River Avenue and graduated from Patchogue High School in 1937. Jean was the first recipient of the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 for her commitment as a volunteer for over 20 years. She said the secret to a long life is smiling, being happy, and having a good attitude.
