Vote for commissioners in your district

Local fire districts will hold their annual elections for commissioner on Tuesday, Dec. 10. They will remain as commissioner for a five-year term. Only those registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections are eligible to vote.

East Islip

East Islip’s election will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. at 30 East Main St , East Islip. Among those running for commissioner are incumbent commissioner Leonard R. Najdek, Brian Scharfschwerdt Senior, and Michael Barnes.

Islip

Incumbent Tom Leggio is running for commissioner of the Bay Shore fire district. Voting will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. at 28 Monell Avenue in Islip.

Bay Shore

Current commissioner Ralph A. Leggio is running unopposed for the role. The vote will take place at Fire Headquarters from 3 to 9 p.m. at 195 Fifth Ave., Bay Shore.

West Islip

From 2 to 9 p.m., West Islip residents will vote for either Al Cinotti or Michael Cooper, who are both running for the five-year term. Voting will be held at 309 Union Blvd., West Islip.

West Sayville

Robert S. Noonan, an incumbent commissioner running unopposed, is up for re-election for the five-year term. Incumbent treasurer James P McNamara is also running for the three-year treasurer position. Voting takes place from 3 to 9 p.m.

Sayville

Incumbent commissioner Mark Schmittzeh is running unopposed. To vote, head to 107 N. Main Street between 3 and 9 p.m.

Bohemia

The election for the Bohemia Fire District will be held at 950 Pearl Street in Bohemia from 3 to 9 p.m. Incumbent Frank Wilhelmy is running unopposed for a five-year commissioner term, which will last from Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2029. Incumbent Kevin Albro and John Chavatte are both running for a two-year commissioner term, which will last from Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2026.

Bayport

Incumbent Kevin Collins is running unopposed for commissioner of the Bayport fire district. Voting will take place at 251 Snedecor Avenue in Bayport from 6 to 9 p.m.

Blue Point

Incumbent Dennis McCarthy will be running for a five-year term. The election is from 6 to 9 p.m.
