On Tuesday, June 3, supervisor Daniel J. Panico and councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig were on-site at 579 Riviera Drive, Mastic Beach, to witness the demolition of a longstanding blighted property. The demolition was carried out by the Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management.
Supervisor Panico remarked, “The unspoiled views along the waterfront in Mastic Beach, from land or sea, will no longer be marred by this monument of blight, which was demolished by the Town of Brookhaven. The property will be preserved and added to the hundreds of lots that we have acquired to keep the area the beautiful place that it is.”
Councilwoman Dunne Kesnig added, “I was thrilled to join supervisor Dan Panico to watch the demolition of this long-standing eyesore. The land will be able to return to its natural state.”
