Today, Steve Bellone, the sitting, term-limited Suffolk County Executive, endorsed former prosecutor and business leader Dave Calone to succeed him in leading Suffolk County.
Bellone has been elected County Executive for 3 terms, and is term-limited from running again.
County Executive Steve Bellone issued the following statement: “After over a decade of service, I take the issue of who will succeed me very seriously. We face changing and challenging times, and this election is about who we trust to lead us forward... to innovate, not stagnate. I have known Dave for years and trusted him to help solve key issues for our region – storm recovery, water quality, supporting local businesses, and more. His background, as a crime fighter and job creator, is exactly what this job calls for. What’s more, he has the skills, independence, and strength to buck the status quo, and lead our region. For those reasons, I am proud to endorse him, and look forward to doing everything I can to ensure he is our next Suffolk County Executive.”
