The Charlotte Community Garden of Oakdale, located at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 1 Berard Boulevard, will have its grand opening on Saturday, May 31 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The event will have free snacks and refreshments as well as music.
So far, the garden has red and green lettuce, kale, radishes, and spinach.
Rae Paoletta, an Oakdale resident, began the garden with her gardening partner, Stacey DeFelice, to donate the crops to people and families in need.
In the past, Pellota has single-handedly collected over 385 lbs. of litter in the Oakdale community.
