Christmas Boat Parade lights up the night

People lined up along the Patchogue River Sunday night for the annual Patchogue Christmas/Holiday Boat Parade.

About 40 boats, decked out in lights, participated, led by a 60-foot barge from Fire Island National Seashore with the U.S. flag in lights. This year’s theme was a Jimmy Buffett Caribbean Christmas.

The judges for this year’s competition were State Sen. Dean Murray, Brookhaven Town councilman Neil Foley, Town of Brookhaven deputy commissioner Leah Jefferson. and Fr. Kevin Smith of St. Francis de Sales and Our Lady of the Snow.

WINNERS:

People’s Choice Award 30 feet and over

  • 1st Place – Capt. Steve Vassallo for “Lexsea”
  • 2nd Place – Capt. Andrew Meyerowitz for “Summer Winns”
  • 3rd Place – Joe Millilo for “Joy Ride”

People’s Choice Award Under 30 feet

  • 1st Place – Capt. Nick Pacifico for “Mahalo”
  • 2nd Place – Jeff Copping for a 25’ “Robalo”
  • 3rd Place – Jim Fuoco for “Isola Del Fuoco”

Judge’s Awards

  • Best in Show – Lance Summar for “Cloverleaf”
  • Best in Theme – Chris Cavuto for “Seavoots”
