Child hit by mini-bus in Patchogue today

A 12-year-old boy was struck by a mini school bus at the intersection of Carman Street and Rider Avenue in Patchogue at approximately 8 a.m. on September 18.

The bus was northbound on Rider Avenue and the child was crossing Carman Street westbound. The bus had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection and began to move when it struck the child.

The child was treated for minor injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Aboard the bus, the driver, a man, a female adult aide, and a male child were not injured.

Motor Carrier Safety Section officers conducted a safety check on the bus at the scene. No summonses were issued.
