Brightwaters holds first Spring Thing Block Party

Posted

The first-ever Spring Thing Block Party was held by the Village of Brightwaters at the four corners on Sunday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

While the village holds an annual block party in the fall, local businesses asked for a spring block party to be held this year, and thus, the Spring thing Block Party was born!

A relaxing, delightful occasion, village residents were able to gather and see their neighbors, while supporting all that downtown has to offer. Attendees were satiated by a variety of options from local businesses, including the Brightwaters Village Deli, Mamma Santina, Sea Levels Restaurant, and more.

A DJ and live music performances by Ava and Finn, Dirty Vice Band and more, kept spirits high all afternoon. The block party provided fun for the whole family, as vendors were required to provide a free activity or service for kids.

“It’s always good to get our residents and their friends to come together to enjoy our small village,” shared mayor John Valdini. “We had a lot of free things such as face painting, balloon making, a free kids zone area, and free popcorn for the little kids. The live bands kept the adults happy.”

The Brightwaters Art Council’s booth provided fun art activities and a drawing station for the kids, while local artists also showcased and sold their work.

If you missed the Spring Thing Block Party, do not fret. It may be back in 2025.

“I’ll be in touch with the businesses to improve on it for next year,” added Valdini.
