Boys & Girls Club announces new executive director

The Boys & Girls Club of The Bellport Area (BGCBA), a leading nonprofit organization providing young people ages three to 19 with a safe environment to congregate for quality pre-school, after-school and teen programs, recently announced the hire of Kim Livingston as the Club’s new executive director.

In a letter sent out on behalf of the Board of Directors to families and friends, staff, community leaders and supporters, BGCBA Board president Lisa Anderson stated, “I am delighted to announce the appointment of our new executive director. Ms. Kim Livingston, LMSW, will be starting on June 1, 2022.”

Livingston earned a bachelor’s degree in human relations from St. Joseph’s College and a master’s in social work from Stony Brook University. Licensed to practice social work in the State of New York, her Long Island-based career has concentrated on children and families, primarily developing and supervising housing programs for homeless and disabled youth, most recently as assistant vice president of residential services for the Family and Children’s Association in Garden City.

“BGCBA is a vital community-based organization that has served the youth of the Bellport area for more than 50 years. I am excited to join its ranks, particularly at this crucial time when our youth are faced with unprecedented challenges in the aftermath of a global pandemic,” she said upon accepting the position. On a personal note, she added, “I feel I’ve come home.”

Livingston lives in Brookhaven hamlet, is a graduate of Bellport High School, and the mother to a current Bellport Middle School student.

Anderson conveyed the board’s gratitude to Fred Combs for his interim leadership, with appreciation for filling a vacancy left unfilled as COVID-delayed HR efforts.

“Over the last year, our board member Fred Combs has provided able, patient, and good-humored interim leadership for the club as we searched for our new director. The entire board joins me in expressing our gratitude,” she added.
