Blue Point Brewery hosting International Women's Day scavenger hunt

Run around town for "Nancy Brew" day

Blue Point Brewing Company will celebrate International Women’s Day with a choose-your- own-adventure style scavenger hunt, which will take place this Saturday, March 7. The hunt is free to participate, and begins at noon at the Blue Point brewpub. The event, aptly titled Nancy Brew, will send participants to a variety of women-led businesses throughout Long Island. At each location, businesses will offer participants a sample, exclusive opportunity, or discount. If participants visit at least eight locations they will be awarded a prize of a Nancy Brew branded pint glass with Blue Point beer to fill it.

Nancy Brew creator, Mike Fisher of Blue Point Brewing Company, planned the event after a happy accident with a pun.

“Once I came up the name, I realized it was an activity that would be a lot of fun. I pictured a bunch of people running all over town with magnifying glasses, although you certainly will not need one to participate.” Fisher designed custom clue books, which each ‘detective’ will receive at the brewpub to start their journey. From there, they will choose which businesses to visit and receive a stamp for each location.

Participating businesses run across Long Island, with North Fork mainstays Moustache Brewing Company and One Woman Winery among the list. The largest concentration is in Patchogue village, just a short walk from Blue Point, for those who prefer not to drive. The walking tour locations include The Better Man Distilling Company, Cheese Patch, Tranquility Within Meditation Center and Mademoiselle Patisserie. A Google Map with complete participants can be found here.

Fisher plans to grow Nancy Brew’s footprint annually. “There is nothing more important to us than supporting our local businesses. Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day are the perfect opportunity to shine a flashlight on a whole lot of hardworking people.”

Blue Point Brewing Company is located at 225 West Main Street in Patchogue. Nancy Brew will run only on March 7th from 12 - 10pm. Participants must be over 21 and can sign up on Eventbrite for free here.
