Bay Shore, Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash


Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Bay Shore on Monday Jan. 10, police said in a press release. 

Christopher Weiler was standing in the middle of Brentwood Road, between Tillie Street and Redington Street, when he was struck by a southbound 1999 Jeep driven by Jorge Campos Orellana at approximately 7 p.m., the press release said. The collision knocked Weiler into the northbound lane where he was struck by 2006 Hyundai driven by David Bevilaegua, police said.

Police said, Weiler, 30, of 2063 Union Blvd., Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore was he was pronounced dead. Campos Orellana, 31, of Bay Shore, and Bevilaegua, 36, of East Meadow, were not injured, the press release said.  Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
