PAC’s celebration of 2021: “Coming of Age” continues with the return of its outdoor arts gathering, “Arts on Terry” on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Arts on Terry is a contemporary art fair for all ages highlighting 300-plus artists from a variety of Long Island arts organizations, each exhibiting a curated selection of works representing its respective community.

AOT will also include a full day of art exhibits, demonstrations, live painters, family-friendly activities, live music, poetry, and performances, all on Terry Street, Patchogue’s official arts district!

The 2021 edition of the Patchogue-Medford Library mural was recently completed by artist Caitlyn Shea, whose previous murals are on display in Riverhead and Huntington. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Saturday, Sept. 18 to celebrate the new mural.

The annual event is held by the Patchogue Arts Council, who decides a theme for the year and selects from a large pool of prominent artists who submit their proposals, an interpretation of the theme, earlier in the year.

The mural, titled “Cicadian Rhythm” is a colorful look at the emergence of cicada brood 17 (aka brood X). The mural depicts the life cycle of dandelion flowers and cicadas, which emerge from the ground every 17 years. The mural is meant to bring bright colors and joy to the community while highlighting the beauty of brood X cicadas—which are now believed to be extinct on Long Island.
