Annual Fourth of July celebration on Main

The annual Patchogue Lions Club Fourth of July parade will be held this year with a ceremony at the Four Corners in Patchogue Village, without the parade portion, similar to last year’s celebration. This year, however, the event will be open to the public.

In attendance will be the local VFW, American Legion and AMVETS, as well as the Patchogue Fire Department and other dignitaries. The Atlantic Community Band orchestra will also be playing live.

Logistically, ceremony organizer and Lion Peter Feehan said that due to last-minute lifts on COVID-19 restrictions, the planning of a full-blown parade was just not feasible. Still, he hopes to see about 2,000 to 3,000 people gather at the Four Corners in Patchogue Village to watch the ceremony.

“It was a little disappointing to have another year without a parade,” mayor Paul Pontieri said, still eager for the ceremony. “But with the late announcement, we are unable to plan.”

Feehan said the Lions plan to host the full parade event next year.

“Next year, there will be a parade, bigger and better than ever,” he promised.

The event will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, with a July 10 rain date. Streets will be closed from Railroad to Maple avenues and Oak to Church streets.
