On Saturday, Jan. 22, Operation VEST hosted the inaugural 22 Degree Run and Plunge in Brightwaters. The 2.2-mile run/walk around the village was followed by a plunge into the water at Walker Beach. Temperatures were around 20 degrees at the time of the plunge, with the water being around 40 degrees. The event was put together by Stefan and Jenny Hespeler of Operation VEST, a 501(c)(3) organization that is working towards the eradication of veteran suicide.
