2021 fire district election results

Fire districts across Long Island held their annual elections on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Below are the compiled results.

Blue Point

Incumbent Peter Miller was reelected with 123 votes to firefighter Raymond Maggi’s 84 votes. Also, a total of 6 votes were void. There are no resolutions or propositions on the ballot.

Bellport

About 40 ballots were voided and contested in the first race. Firefighter and village trustee Steve Mackin ran against incumbent Richard Terwilliger for a five-year term. Final determination has not been made. There will be a recount.

Also, firefighters Robert Paulsen won with 183 votes over Anthony Didio who took home 80 votes, to fill a one-year term for a vacated seat.

There were no referendums or resolutions on the ballot.

Brookhaven 

Incumbent Mike Verni ran unopposed and won with about 50 votes. There were no referendums or resolutions on the ballot.

Hagerman

Former chief of the Bellport Fire Department and firefighter Dane Hartmann won against incumbent Mark Palermo for a five-year term seat with a total of 370 votes to 284. There were no resolutions or referendums.

Medford

Incumbent Charles Jagde ran unopposed and won with 53 votes. There were no referendums or resolutions on the ballot.

North Patchogue

Tom Wassner Jr. ran unopposed. There were no referendum or resolutions on the ballot.

Patchogue

Incumbent Steve Saper ran unopposed with 35 votes. Also, Jill Ferrente was elected as treasurer with 35 votes. There were no referendums or resolutions up for vote.

Mastic

Incumbent Daniel Haase ran unopposed for another term. He received a total of 66 votes. There were no referendums or resolutions on the ballot.

Mastic Beach

Firefighter Vinny Guarino ran unopposed to fill former commissioner Charles O’Connor’s vacated seat. He won with 56 votes. There were no referendums or resolutions on the ballot.
