TODAY: Honor Medford resident, help others with addiction
Dairy Queen in Medford is hosting a fundraiser today to support two causes, the Memorial Service Fund for Danny Burch, and the Long Island Chapter of the NY Teen Challenge.
Burch was a manager who worked at DQ and donated his organs Friday. Bruch lived in Medford, graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School, and was 22 years old. The store is helping to raise money for his funeral and memorial costs.
Twenty percent of proceeds made at DQ between 1 and 4 p.m. and 6 and 8 p.m. will be split between the two causes. NY Teen Challenge is an organization working with adults and teenagers battling addiction. Even if you don't want to donate or buy food, there is a lot of information on addiction and the resources available, people to speak with, as well as games and raffles.
