Wear your sunblock

This summer the Village of Patchogue Parks and Recreation Department is beating the summer sun and has partnered with Creative Advertising Concepts, the company that created the program sponsored by Northwell Health, to offer free sunscreen in all village parks.

Dispensers will be installed at all village parks and will be available to the public for free throughout the season.

Locations also include the village’s Beach Club public pool, which already has two stations. Each station is supplied with SPF 30 Coppertone Sport. The sunscreen is waterproof and sweat-proof, but should be reapplied every two hours or so.

Brian Berkery and Wendy Parr of Creative Advertising Concepts said this was the first year with stations in Patchogue, but that the company has been implementing this program across Long Island for the past three years. The program was designed to offer free sunscreen in an attempt to help prevent skin cancer.

The stations dispense the lotion through a motion sensor and will be refilled throughout the season.
