Dead body found in Patchogue
Last weekend, Saturday, June 15 a body was found on Rider Avenue near Edwards Street in Patchogue. According to police, a passing by motorist observed a body with extensive head injuries on the side of the road at approximately 10:20 p.m.
The man has since been identified as Clarence Wyche, 39, of Patchogue. A physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner pronounced him dead at the scene. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are currently investigating the death.
According to Patchogue Village officials, it seems like the death could have been caused by a hit and run at this time. According to police, he was not shot, as originally reported but his death is still being ruled as criminal in nature.
The Patchogue Ambulance Company responded to the call as an adult male found bleeding from the head lying in the street. However, at time of response, police had already deemed Wyche dead and the ambulance company made no patient contact.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
