Semi-automatic weapon seized at Jake's 58; East Patchogue man arrested
Suffolk County Police arrested an East Patchogue man earlier today, April 6, for criminal possession of a weapon. Fourth Precinct officers responded to a report of a weapon found in a hotel room at Jake’s 58 Casino and Hotel, located at 3635 Express Drive North in Islandia, at 8:15 p.m. on April 5. The Security Manager for the hotel was investigating a report of a barking dog in one of the hotel rooms. He entered the unoccupied room, saw a weapon on the floor, and notified police. The owner of the gun, a semiautomatic rifle, returned to the room while officers were at the scene. Following an investigation, detectives charged Raymond Hansen with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. According to police the gun was seized because its "type" is illegal in NYS. However, further information was not provided. A preliminary investigation has determined Hansen did not intend to use the weapon to cause harm. Hansen, 25, of East Patchogue, is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip this morning.
