Drift 82 opens today!
John Sarno, the owner of the popular Patchogue Village hotspot, the Village Idiot Pub, and Tim Kelly, his Village Idiot Irish Pub in Oakdale business partner and owner of The Lark in East Northport, plan to open the newly renovated Drift 82, formerly known as On the Waterfront, located on Brightwood Street in Patchogue, today at 11 a.m. till close.
‘Drift,’ short for driftwood, features both indoor and outdoor seating and bars. The décor has a beachy vibe with multicolored woods and a dining area overlooking the Great South Bay. The restaurant will be open year-round; outdoor seating will be seasonal.
Music at the venue will be geared more towards acoustics, steel drum and reggae bands. Friday and Saturday evenings will be acoustics and Sunday from 3-7 p.m. will have steel drum entertainment.
The menu mostly revolves around seafood and seasonal items, with some high-end steaks as well as chicken dishes and a few favorites such as whole lobsters, lobster ravioli and a raw bar. Sarno said there will also be a decent “nosh” menu with some VIP staples including wings and spinach dip. The lunch menu will consist of wraps and sandwiches and foods will be sourced as locally as possible. So will alcohol lists, with Blue Point and Montauk beers, 12 draft lines and a wine list with local and imported options.
Currently, they are seeking servers. Please call 631-418-6259 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. From today on, the restaurant will be open seven days a week, Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bar will remain open till the last ferry.
