Today, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Suffolk County legislators met to sign the Reclaim Our Water Septic Improvement Program into law.

The first-of-its-kind program in New York State is designed to help homeowners fund advanced nitrogen removal septic systems at an affordable rate to in turn replace outdated septic systems and protect Long Island waters.

The new website, ReclaimOurWater.info, was also recently launched to help aid the application process. Homeowners now have a resource to find out the financial, regulatory, technical and infrastructure aspects of the Septic Improvement Program.

The county will now begin to accept applications from eligible homeowners beginning July 1. For more information visit reclaimOurWater.info or contact septicdemo@suffolkcountyny.gov with questions pertaining to the program and your current septic or cesspool situation.
