PATCHOGUE VILLAGE

This year’s Great South Bay Music Festival cancelled

Posted

The Great South Bay Music Festival is the latest on a list of cancelled large events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival, originally planned for July 16-19, is an annual tradition that takes place at Shorefront Park in Patchogue. The next festival will now be July 17-20, 2021.

According to an update posted on the festival Facebook page, there were talks to postpone the festival to September, but could not see a prudent way to put that together.

"I wouldn't let my kids or grandkids hang at my fest, I am surely not going to allow others to take the risk," said Jim Faith, manager of the festival, in a Facebook post.

Faith continued that the prospects for having the concert later rather than September worked better for everyone involved, as crowds and performers will feel more safe, and there would be less restrictions.

For those who have already bought tickets, those tickets will be transferred to 2021. There will also be a 20 percent voucher for food, beer, merchandise, or additional tickets. You could also donate your ticket to a healthcare worker. And refund requests will be accepted, with more info to come soon.
