Long Island Community Hospital recently celebrated the discharge of their 500th COVID-19 patient with a farewell by hospital administration and staff. Henry Perez, 57, of Mastic, will be left the hospital Monday after being treated for COVID-19 for 31 days.

“We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this amazingly strong and upbeat patient,” said President and CEO, Richard T. Margulis. “Our frontline heroes put in their best so that he could continue to fight back to health and enjoy his life again.” Mr. Perez had a fever for ten days as he tried to fight off the virus at home, but then a cough with escalating shortness of breath for another five days made it clear he needed the care at LI Community Hospital.

“Cornonavirus is no joke. My doctors, Dr. Manoj Trehan, Dr. John Hsu and Dr. Fazal Faroqui have been on top of it and helped me get past this. The nurses were great with me, especially Tylyn Copeland, RN,” Perez said. He will head to rehab to keep getting better.
